Free resources for checking AI-assisted research.

Use these on-page tools to organise your reading and examine AI-generated information. No purchase or trading account is required.

The source-checking checklist

  • Origin: Who published the information, and can you locate the original document?
  • Date: When was it published, and what period does the information cover?
  • Scope: Which company, instrument, market or jurisdiction does it actually describe?
  • Numbers: Are the units, currency, percentages and time periods consistent?
  • Context: What qualifications or exceptions appear around the quoted passage?
  • Corroboration: Does another reliable source confirm the important point?
  • Uncertainty: Which parts remain unknown, disputed or based on assumptions?

An AI-output review worksheet

Copy these questions into your own notes. Complete one entry for each claim you intend to keep.

A bounded practice prompt

Use a short public document that you are permitted to share with the tool. Remove personal and confidential information first.

Using only the text I provide, list its main factual statements and quote the passage supporting each one. Separate the author’s opinions from stated facts. Identify dates, units and missing information. If the text does not answer a question, say so. Do not recommend a trade or invent additional evidence.

This prompt is a study aid, not a reliability guarantee. Check the quoted passages yourself: an AI system can misquote or misunderstand even when given clear instructions.

Keep a learning journal

  • What did I learn today? Write the concept in your own words.
  • Which statement was hardest to verify, and why?
  • What assumption did I make before checking the source?
  • What would I need to know before drawing a stronger conclusion?
  • What did the tool get wrong, and how did I correct it?
